Happy New Year!

Are you making any New Year’s resolutions? Besides the usual pledges to become more organized or lose weight, how about linking a resolution with your faith? Resolve to find time for quiet prayer each day, or to take an adult formation class. Let’s pray for each other as we try to use the tools that God has given us to always strive to be better with each other and with ourselves. And always, let us pray for peace. Celebrating 100 years in Cameroon

With a liturgy at the Cathedral of Nkongsamba on November 30, 2012, the Cameroon Province began a year of celebration, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the SCJ presence in the country. The special year closed on November 30, 2013, with the blessing of the newly built Sacred Heart Church in Bafoussam.

Mission preparations begin in Hales Corners

The road to Asia begins at Sacred Heart School of Theology! Well, at least for some members of the Priests of the Sacred Heart. Twenty-five years ago an international group of SCJs came to Hales Corners to prepare for the congregation’s first mission in the Philippines. Together they honed their English skills in SHST’s ESL program and outlined their plans for the mission.


Fr. General’s Christmas message

The following is Fr. José Ornelas Carvalho’s Christmas letter to members of the Priests of the Sacred Heart. Fr. Ornelas is general superior of the congregation: Christmas returns; returns with its light, returns announced by many little signs that are designed to enrich our provinces, regions, and entities. Returns to give direction, to astonish and to help us to be open to hope.

Honorary SCJ dies

Honorary SCJ Fr. Joseph Gole died December 8 in Milwaukee, Wis. His health had been deteriorating significantly in recent days. Born in Dubrovnik, Slovenia, Fr. Gole grew up in the town of Zagorica. He began his studies for the priesthood at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France.
