Fr. Leo Dehon’s Spirituality and His Social Engagement

“Fr. Dehon’s spiritual basis is an experience of God’s love… a love that inevitably led him to social and political engagement,” said Fr. Stefan Tertünte, SCJ. Fr. Celebration, reflection and action; North American Conference comes to an end

It may have been the NORTH AMERICAN Continental Conference but it reflected an internationality that went well beyond Canada and the United States. SCJs from Africa, South America, Europe and Asia were among those in the conference room not only as guests but primarily as fellow SCJs of the Canadian Region and US Province.


Celebrating the commitment to religious life!

On September 23 the province celebrated the golden and diamond jubilees of religious life of five of its members: Fr. Johnny Klingler, Br. Peter Mankins and Fr. Jim Schroeder (50 years) and Fr. Frank Clancy and Fr. Larry Rucker (60 years). Friends, family and fellow SCJs packed the chapel at Sacred Heart Monastery/School of Theology for an evening liturgy and dinner.

Vietnamese school continues to thrive

Huong Tam School was initiated by Mrs. Dao Thi Thu Thuy, a Vietnamese citizen living in the United States, who came to visit Vietnam. She saw many children going around to collect garbage and sell lottery tickets; most of them were uneducated, they just lived with what they got on the streets. Their parents didn’t have enough money to send them to school. Mrs. Dao Thi Thu Thuy had the idea to establish a small school called “Huong Tam School”
