20 Questions with Fr. Wojciech Adamczyk

Favorite color? What makes you happy? What are you good at? What is your greatest fear… “Twenty Questions” is a regular feature in which SCJs and those with whom they minister and collaborate share a bit about themselves in an informal Q&A. Participants are given the same list of questions and are invited to answer as many as they would like.

Fr. Wojciech Adamczyk, SCJ, is pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Houston.

 

Q: Where were you born and raised? Describe your family.

FR. WOJCIECH: I was born on March 23, 1976, in Lublin, Poland. I was raised by both of my parents. I am the youngest child; I have two siblings and my brother is also a priest.

Q: What is your favorite book or movie?

FR. WOJCIECH: Leon: The Professional

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world post-pandemic – without concern about the expense – where would you go and why?

FR. WOJCIECH: I would travel to Italy because there are a lot of places to see and good food and wine.

Q: What are you good at?

FR. WOJCIECH: Brewing.

Q: What is your favorite color?

FR. WOJCIECH: Blue.

Q: Do you have any hobbies or pastimes? If so, what are they and how did you get interested in them?

FR. WOJCIECH: Watch live sports of any kind, especially motorcycle racing.

Q: What is your favorite food?

FR. WOJCIECH: Steak.

Q: What is your least favorite chore?

FR. WOJCIECH: Cleaning.

Q: Who — living or deceased — do you most admire and why?

FR. WOJCIECH: My mother because she has always been so supportive of all my decisions.

Q: What would surprise people to learn about you?

FR. WOJCIECH: I’m humble.

Q: What skill or talent would you like to have that you do not? Why?

FR. WOJCIECH: Play the guitar.

Q: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

FR. WOJCIECH: Firefighter.

Q: What makes you happy?

FR. WOJCIECH: Working with people.

Q: What is your greatest fear?

FR. WOJCIECH: Sickness.

Q: What trait or habit do you dislike in yourself?

FR. WOJCIECH: Judging people.

Q: What trait or habit do you dislike in others?

FR. WOJCIECH: People judging me.

Q: List three words that describe you.

FR. WOJCIECH: Outgoing, enthusiastic, caring.

Q: How did you come to know of the Priests of the Sacred Heart (Dehonians) and what interested you about them?

FR. WOJCIECH: In my hometown there are two communities of Sacred Heart priests. I liked the charism, openness and hospitality.

Q: Do you consider yourself a Dehonian? If so, what does that mean to you?

FR. WOJCIECH: I consider myself to be a son of Fr. Dehon.

Q: What changes, adaptations or insights do you expect to stay with you from the pandemic? In other words, how do you expect to be changed by COVID-19?

FR. WOJCIECH: This pandemic brings about many thoughts. First, it reminds me that everything in our lives depends on God, and secondly, that every moment of our lives is a great gift from God. I think we often forget that.
