First professions

James Nguyen and Juan Carlos Castañeda Rojas will profess their first vows during a 10:30 a.m. liturgy at Sacred Heart Monastery/School of Theology.

Justin Krenke will be received into the novitiate during adoration at Sacred Heart Monastery/School of Theology at 5 p.m. on August 14.


South African SCJ ordained as bishop

On August 3, Fr. Zolile Petros Mpambani, SCJ, was ordained as bishop of Diocese of Kokstad, South Africa. He is the second SCJ in less than a year to be ordained for episcopal service in Africa. Archbishop Claudio Dalla Zuanna, SCJ, was ordained October 7, 2012, for the Archdiocese of Beira, Mozambique. What follows are two reflections on Bishop Zolile’s ordination.

Installation of Fr. Stephen Huffstetter, SCJ

On August 1 Fr. Stephen Huffstetter, SCJ, was installed as the new provincial superior of the U.S. Province of the Priests of the Sacred Heart. The liturgy took place in the chapel at Sacred Heart at Monastery Lake; residents of the new senior living community joined SCJs at the celebration.

Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever is not one of our SCJ mottos, but it is at the root of our message. We SCJs are called to preach the love of God and to proclaim and build the kingdom that is both here and not yet, summed up in our motto “Adveniat Regnum Tuum” (Your Kingdom Come). We do so in the spirit of availability embodied in the words: “Ecce Venio” (Behold I Come).
