“The Constitutions trace the lines of our spirituality. They sketch the manner of living our religious life as Priests of the Sacred Heart, and they indicate our apostolic orientations... For each of us, they are the book which, after the Gospel, reminds us of what is essential if we are to live our religious consecration faithfully.”

– Fr. Antonio Panteghini, former superior general

About Our “As a Rule” Publication

As a Rule began in 1992 as a simple two-page newsletter featuring SCJ reflections on each Constitution. After completing all 144 Constitutions over 20 years, the publication has returned in a new format that:

  • Features themed issues rather than sequential coverage
  • Includes reflections from SCJs, employees, Dehonian Associates and others connected to SCJ spirituality
  • Provides reflection questions for deeper engagement
  • Continues the dialogue on living SCJ spirituality today
