LIGHTS! CAMERA!! ACTION!!!
Our students in formation have been busy putting together a variety of videos, both serious and not-so-serious, to give a window into the life of the Priests of the Sacred Heart (Dehonians) and especially, the formation community. Click on any (or all!) of the video links below. We also invite you to subscribe to our YouTube channel, DehoniansUSA.
SO WHAT DID YOU THINK THAT IT TASTED LIKE? It has been said that internationality is both a blessing and a challenge. In this video, several members of the Sacred Heart Monastery Community do blind taste-tests of popular Vietnamese snacks. For many, freeze-dried durian easily fell into the “challenge” of internationality. “It tastes like a smell!” said one tester. “Socks? Dirty socks?” said another. Produced by our students in formation, this is one of several videos in which they share a few lighthearted moments from the monastery.
Meet our novitiate team!
In this video, Frs. Andrzej Sudol, SCJ, and Byron Haaland, SCJ, talk about what it means to be an SCJ (a Dehonian), about their own vocations and about vocation discernment.
Tour our novitiate!
Take a tour of our novitiate by clicking on the video above. Located approximately 15 minutes south of Sacred Heart Monastery in rural Wisconsin, the property includes walking paths, a meditative labyrinth, vegetable and flower gardens, and – of course – a beautiful chapel for prayer.
Get to know our students!
“When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?” “Where are you from?” “What languages do you speak?” “How did you meet the SCJs?” “What attracted you to the community?” In a two-part video, our students in formation offer a window into who they are, as well as the community. Click on the images above (Part 1 and Part 2).
Seminarians from around the world in song
Click on the image above to hear our Dehonian scholastics (students) from around the world sing “Charitas Christi Urget Nos.” Jacob Smith, a student for the US Province, is among those featured. The video was put together by Christian Hofer, an SCJ scholastic from Indonesia.
Are you called to a life of prayer and service based in the love of the Sacred Heart? Are you called to religious life as a priest or brother?
