The following is Fr. Vien Nguyen’s letter to Dehonians in commemoration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart, June 27, 2025:

Dear Dehonian Confreres and Lay Collaborators,

In light of the unrest, polarization, and fragmentation we see in the world, the Heart of Jesus is pierced …

… when God’s children—undocumented and vulnerable—are facing arrest and deportation, resulting in the separation of families and communities.

… when God’s children find themselves ensnared in armed conflicts and wars, shedding innocent blood and inflicting the trauma of violence.

… when God’s children are compelled to migrate, risking their lives to escape war, persecution, and poverty.

… when God’s children endure rising anti-immigrant sentiment in their new homes, impacting their dignity, emotional health, and social integration.

… when God’s children contribute to environmental degradation, wounding our “common home” with loss of biodiversity and the collapse of ecosystems.

… when God’s children witness intense political polarization and eroding trust, undermining the common good.

The Heart of Jesus is pierced!

In His Heart,

Fr. Vien Nguyen, SCJ
